Bring it to a Party Brie en Croute

Bring it to a Party Brie en Croute

Every time my husband and I get together with our dear friends, we know we’re going to have Brie en Croute, or “B en C” as we like to say. I don’t know when or how this tradition started, but someone will pick up a cheese wheel, and it’s always a toss-up as to what jam or filling will go inside. For this one, I used fig jam and slivered almonds, but it’s really up to your taste preference and/or what you have on hand.

INGREDIENTS

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 wheel of Brie cheese
1 large handful of chopped/sliced nuts of your choosing
1 thick spread of preserves, jam, jelly (whatever you have on hand)
1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry. Transfer to a baking sheet. Place the wheel of Brie on the center of the pastry. Top with preserves and nuts. Fold the edges of the Brie up to the center of the cheese to cover it. Trim away excess pastry. Lightly brush the pastry with the egg wash.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until golden brown. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving with crackers or mini toasts.
