Jenny's Sausage Balls

Jenny's Sausage Balls

Sausage Ball Ready to Eat (1).JPG

I haven’t posted my story about my dear friend Jenny Davidson, but the fact that she not only wrote her “go-to” recipe for me but also supplied step-by-step photos just gives you a taste of the organized and above-and-beyond type person she is. I can’t wait to share her story soon.

From Jenny: These are a great breakfast treat, you can serve as a two-bite item at a party or brunch, or make-ahead and heat up for 15 seconds on a school day. We often make them on holidays. For example, we will have as an appetizer with coffee on Christmas morning while we open gifts before we make a full breakfast for everyone. They are a crowd pleaser, easy, and liked by kids and adults.

JENNY’S SAUSAGE BALLS

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound Jimmy Dean Sausage (Original)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup Bisquick Mix
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine all ingredients in bowl. Spray baking sheet with cooking spray. Form 1-inch balls with the prepared ingredients. Bake 16-18 minutes.

  • Tips from Jenny:

    • Use spatula to remove and put on paper towels to absorb any grease from the cheese, before putting on a serving tray.

    • Store in airtight container and heat up in microwave for 15 seconds if having as a leftover.

    • Can form the 1-inch balls and freeze if wanting to prep ahead. Then take out of freezer the day before and just cook once thawed.

    • Can add a dash of Cholula sauce if you want to try with a little kick!

    • You can use pre-shredded cheese or grate yourself. I always think the cheese melts better together when you do the grating.
